Gynecomastia Treatment Update
Gynecomastia, more commonly referred to as ‘Man Boobs‘, is believed to affect up to 50% of males at some stage during their lives.
More prevalent in adolescents and the elderly, the general view is that its causes are due to some form of hormonal imbalance. Following a determination of any current drug intake, this will usually be followed by normal endocrinological treatments. This involves medication that will adjust hormone levels and will normally be suggested immediately. If delayed, the mammary tissue caused by gynecomastia can ‘harden’ and then it may be necessary to resort to surgery to remove it.
Gynecomastia treatments drugs are designed to control estrogens levels (Clomiphene and Tamoxifen), inhibit aromatase (Letrozole) and androgen medicates that in a sense are a form of testosterone stimulator.
